Choose the correct anchor type for the wall and load
Mark the spot where the anchor will go
Hold the anchor against the wall and trace if needed
Drill a pilot hole if the anchor requires one
Push or tap the anchor into the hole until flush with the wall
Screw the anchor in if it is a self-drilling type
Insert the screw into the anchor and tighten it
Stop tightening when the anchor is secure and the screw is snug
Hang the item on the installed anchor
Check that the anchor holds firmly before releasing the item
