Power off the computer
Unplug the power cable
Remove the laptop bottom cover or desktop side panel
Ground yourself to discharge static electricity
Locate the M.2 slot on the motherboard
Remove the M.2 retaining screw
Insert the M.2 SSD into the slot at a slight angle
Push the SSD down flat against the motherboard
Secure the SSD with the retaining screw
Reinstall the cover or side panel
Reconnect the power cable
Power on the computer
Enter BIOS or UEFI to confirm the SSD is detected
Initialize, partition, and format the SSD in the operating system if needed
