Check local building codes and permit requirements
Inspect the roof deck for damage and repair any weak or rotten sections
Remove old shingles, nails, and debris if reroofing
Install drip edge along the eaves
Apply underlayment across the roof deck
Install ice and water shield in valleys, eaves, and other required areas
Snap chalk lines to guide shingle rows
Start with starter shingles along the eaves
Install the first course of shingles over the starter strip
Nail shingles according to manufacturer instructions
Stagger each new row to offset joints
Cut shingles to fit valleys, ridges, and edges
Install flashing around chimneys, vents, skylights, and walls
Continue shingling up to the ridge
Install ridge cap shingles at the peak
Seal exposed nails and any required joints
Clean up debris and check for loose or misaligned shingles
