Shut off the water supply
Drain the pipe completely
Cut the copper pipe squarely
Deburr the cut end
Clean the pipe end
Mark the insertion depth on the pipe
Measure the fitting depth if needed
Push the SharkBite fitting onto the pipe until it reaches the mark
Twist slightly while pushing for a secure seat
Pull back gently to confirm it is fully engaged
Turn the water supply back on
Check for leaks
Remove and reinstall if the fitting is not fully seated or leaks persist
