Choose the correct anchor type for the weight of the item
Mark the spot on the drywall where the anchor will go
Use a drill bit sized for the anchor
Drill a clean hole straight into the drywall
Insert the anchor into the hole
Tap the anchor gently until it sits flush with the wall
If using a self-drilling anchor, screw it into the drywall until flush
Place the item or bracket over the anchor
Insert the screw through the item and into the anchor
Tighten the screw until secure, but do not overtighten
Test the anchor by gently pulling on the mounted item
