Use a lice-killing treatment with permethrin or pyrethrin exactly as directed on the label
Repeat the treatment as instructed, usually 7 to 10 days later
Comb wet hair with a fine-toothed lice comb to remove lice and nits
Wash bedding, hats, scarves, and recently worn clothing in hot water and dry on high heat
Seal items that cannot be washed in a plastic bag for at least 2 weeks
Vacuum furniture, car seats, and floors
Check and treat all household members who have lice
Avoid sharing combs, brushes, hats, pillows, and hair accessories
Soak combs and brushes in hot water for at least 10 minutes
If lice persist after treatment, use a different approved lice treatment or contact a healthcare professional
