How To Lay Laminate Flooring?

Measure the room and calculate the flooring needed

Acclimate the laminate planks in the room for the recommended time

Remove baseboards, trim, and existing floor coverings if needed

Clean and level the subfloor

Install underlayment if required

Plan the layout and stagger the plank joints

Start along the longest straight wall

Place spacers between the planks and the wall

Connect the first row of planks

Cut the last plank in the row to fit

Begin the next row with the cut piece if it meets stagger requirements

Lock the planks together row by row

Tap joints gently with a tapping block if needed

Cut planks to fit around corners, door frames, and vents

Leave expansion gaps around all fixed edges

Install transition strips where needed

Reinstall baseboards and trim

Clean the finished floor
