Try searching with different spellings or nicknames
Search by phone number or email if the account is linked and synced
Check mutual followers, following lists, or tagged posts
Use location tags or hashtags if you know where they post
Search from a web browser if the app search is limited
Make sure the account is not private or blocked from your view
