Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C)
Grease a casserole dish
Cook and shred or dice the chicken
Cook any vegetables you want to add
Mix the chicken, vegetables, cooked pasta or rice, soup or sauce, and seasonings in a large bowl
Stir in cheese if desired
Transfer the mixture to the casserole dish
Top with more cheese, breadcrumbs, or crushed crackers if desired
Bake until hot and bubbly, about 25 to 35 minutes
Let it rest for a few minutes before serving
