Start with a square sheet of paper, colored side up if applicable
Fold the paper diagonally in half both ways, then unfold
Fold the paper in half horizontally and vertically, then unfold
Bring the top corners down and the side corners in to form a smaller square base
Orient the open end of the square base downward
Fold the right and left edges of the top layer toward the center line
Fold the top point down over those edges
Unfold the last three folds
Lift the bottom point of the top layer and open it upward while folding the side edges inward to form a long diamond
Repeat the same fold on the back side
Fold the outer right and left edges of the top layer toward the center line again
Fold the top point down again
Unfold the last three folds
Lift the bottom point of the top layer and open it upward while folding the side edges inward again
Repeat on the back side
Fold one bottom point upward to form the head
Fold the head tip downward to make the beak
Pull the wings outward gently
Shape the neck and tail as needed
