Start with a square sheet of paper
Fold it diagonally in half
Unfold it
Fold it diagonally the other way
Unfold it
Fold the paper in half horizontally
Unfold it
Fold the paper in half vertically
Unfold it
Bring the top corners inward to form a smaller square
Fold the left and right edges of the top layer to the center line
Fold the top point down over the flaps
Unfold the last three folds
Open the bottom point upward while folding the side edges inward
Flatten into a bird base
Fold the left and right bottom edges of the top layer toward the center line
Fold the top flap down
Unfold the last three folds
Lift the bottom point upward while folding the sides inward again
Flatten to form a narrow kite shape
Turn the model over
Repeat the same folds on the other side
Fold one narrow point upward to make the head
Fold the tip of the head downward to make the beak
Pull the wings down gently
Shape the neck, tail, and wings as needed
