Start with one square sheet of paper
Fold the paper in half horizontally, then unfold
Cut or tear the paper along the fold to make two equal rectangles
Take one rectangle and fold it in half lengthwise
Fold both top corners down to the center line
Fold the bottom edges up to meet the center line
Fold the shape in half along the center line
Repeat the same steps with the second rectangle, but fold it in the opposite direction
Place one folded piece over the other in a cross shape
Tuck the ends of each piece into the pockets of the other piece
Adjust the folds until the star is tight and flat
