Drain and rinse the canned black beans
Heat a skillet or saucepan over medium heat
Add a little oil or butter
Add the beans to the pan
Stir in salt
Add garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, or chili powder if desired
Cook for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally
Add a splash of water or broth if the beans get too dry
Mash some beans slightly for a thicker texture if desired
Serve warm
