Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Cut bread into 1-inch cubes
Toss bread cubes with olive oil (or melted butter)
Add salt and black pepper
Add optional seasonings (garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried herbs, chili flakes)
Spread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet
Bake 10 minutes, then stir
Bake 5–15 minutes more until golden and crisp
Cool on the baking sheet 5 minutes
Store in an airtight container once fully cool
