Rinse 1 cup brown rice under cold water until the water runs clear
Add the rinsed rice to the cooker
Add 2 to 2.5 cups water for every 1 cup brown rice
Add salt if desired
Close the lid
Select the brown rice setting if your cooker has one
If there is no brown rice setting, use the regular cook setting
Cook until the cycle finishes
Let the rice sit on warm for 10 to 15 minutes
Fluff with a fork before serving
