Gather matcha powder, hot water, a bowl, a whisk or frother, and a sifter
Sift 1 to 2 teaspoons of matcha powder into the bowl
Heat water to about 160 to 175°F
Add 2 to 4 ounces of hot water to the bowl
Whisk briskly in a zigzag motion until the matcha is smooth and frothy
Add more hot water for a thinner drink if desired
Add milk or sweetener if making a matcha latte
Serve immediately
