Preheat the oven to 400°F
Grease a 9-inch cast-iron skillet or baking dish
In a large bowl, mix 1 cup cornmeal, 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon sugar
In another bowl, whisk 2 eggs, 1 cup milk, and 1/2 cup melted butter
Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined
Fold in 1 cup creamed corn, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup diced green chilies, and 1/4 cup chopped jalapeños if desired
Pour the batter into the prepared skillet or dish
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving
