You cannot safely force a period to start on demand
If your period is late, take a home pregnancy test if pregnancy is possible
Check for common causes of a late period such as stress, illness, weight changes, heavy exercise, travel, or hormonal changes
Track your cycle dates and symptoms
Eat regular meals and stay hydrated
Get enough sleep
Reduce stress
Avoid smoking, recreational drugs, and excess alcohol
Do not take hormones, pills, or herbal remedies to “bring on” a period unless prescribed by a clinician
See a healthcare professional if your period is more than 7 days late and pregnancy is not the cause
See a healthcare professional right away if you have severe pain, very heavy bleeding, fainting, or unusual discharge
Seek urgent care if you might be pregnant and have one-sided pain, shoulder pain, or dizziness
