Measure the couch, doorways, hallways, and stairs
Clear the path of obstacles
Remove cushions, pillows, and detachable parts
Protect floors with blankets, cardboard, or sliders
Wrap the couch in moving blankets or plastic wrap
Recruit at least one helper
Use proper lifting technique with bent knees and straight back
Tilt and pivot the couch through tight spaces
Use furniture sliders for short moves on smooth floors
Use a dolly or hand truck for heavier moves
Secure the couch with straps if using a truck
Load the couch upright in the moving vehicle
Unload carefully and place it in position
Reattach any removed parts
Check for damage after moving
