Gather the correct tools: case opener, small screwdriver, or watch knife
Remove the watch from your wrist
Place the watch face down on a soft cloth
For screw-back cases, turn the back counterclockwise with a case opener
For snap-back cases, insert a case knife into the notch and gently pry open
For battery covers, remove the small screws or release the cover latch
Keep steady pressure and avoid scratching the case
Lift the back cover carefully once it loosens
Set the cover and any screws aside safely
Reassemble the watch by aligning the cover properly
Press or screw the back closed securely
Check that the watch is sealed before wearing it
