How To Plant A Sugarcane?

Select a sunny location with well-drained, fertile soil

Clear the planting area of weeds, rocks, and debris

Loosen the soil to a depth of 12 to 18 inches

Mix in compost or well-rotted manure

Cut healthy sugarcane stalks into seed pieces with 2 to 3 nodes each

Use fresh, disease-free stalks for planting

Lay the seed pieces horizontally in shallow furrows

Space the seed pieces about 3 to 4 feet apart in rows

Cover the seed pieces with 2 to 4 inches of soil

Water the planted area thoroughly

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged

Apply mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds

Fertilize regularly with a balanced fertilizer

Remove weeds as they appear

Hill soil around the base of the plants as they grow

Harvest when the stalks are mature and thick
