Prepare the field by plowing and leveling the soil
Add water to create a muddy field
Select healthy rice seedlings or seeds
Soak and germinate seeds if starting from seed
Transplant seedlings into the field when they are ready
Space seedlings evenly in rows
Plant seedlings 2 to 3 per hill, if desired
Press roots firmly into the mud
Keep the field flooded with shallow water
Remove weeds regularly
Apply fertilizer as needed
Protect the crop from pests and diseases
Drain the field before harvest
Harvest rice when the grains are mature and golden
Dry and thresh the harvested rice
