How To Replace Brake Pads?

Park on a level surface and engage the parking brake

Loosen the wheel lug nuts slightly

Lift the vehicle with a jack

Secure the vehicle with jack stands

Remove the wheel

Locate the brake caliper

Remove the caliper bolts

Lift the caliper off the rotor

Support the caliper with a hanger or wire

Remove the old brake pads

Inspect the rotor for wear or damage

Compress the caliper piston with a brake tool or C-clamp

Install the new brake pads

Reinstall the caliper over the pads and rotor

Tighten the caliper bolts

Reinstall the wheel

Lower the vehicle

Tighten the lug nuts to the correct torque

Pump the brake pedal until it feels firm

Check brake fluid level

Test the brakes at low speed
