Turn off the vehicle and remove the key
Open the hood or access the battery compartment
Wear gloves and eye protection
Locate the negative terminal marked with a minus sign
Loosen the negative terminal clamp
Remove the negative cable and secure it away from the battery
Locate the positive terminal marked with a plus sign
Loosen the positive terminal clamp
Remove the positive cable and secure it away from the battery
If needed, remove any battery hold-down bracket
Lift the battery out carefully using proper handling technique
