Each player gets a grid and a set of ships
Place your ships secretly on your grid
Ships must fit on the grid and usually cannot overlap
Take turns calling out coordinates to guess where the opponent’s ships are
The opponent says whether the guess is a hit or a miss
Mark hits and misses on your tracking grid
If all parts of a ship are hit, that ship is sunk
Keep taking turns guessing and tracking results
The first player to sink all of the opponent’s ships wins
