Use a double-12 domino set for 2–8 players
Place the double-12 domino face down and shuffle
Each player draws a starting hand:
2 players: 15 dominoes each
3–4 players: 12 dominoes each
5–6 players: 11 dominoes each
7–8 players: 10 dominoes each
Put the remaining dominoes in the boneyard
Place the double-12 domino in the center as the starting engine
Each player chooses a personal train marker
Determine the first player
On your turn, play one domino if possible
Match one end of a domino to the open end of the engine or a train
If you cannot play, draw one domino from the boneyard
If the drawn domino can be played, you may play it immediately
If you still cannot play, pass and place your train marker on your train
Start your personal train by playing a domino from your hand off the engine
Keep your personal train open unless it is marked as public
You may play on your own train at any time if it is open
You may play on the Mexican train if it has been started
You may play on another player’s train only if that train is marked public
A train becomes public when its owner cannot play and places a marker on it
If you play on your own train after it was marked public, remove the marker
Doubles must be played and then satisfied with another domino
If you play a double, you must immediately play another domino to complete it
If you cannot satisfy a double, draw and pass if still unable
The round ends when a player plays their last domino
The round also ends when no player can make a legal move
Score points from the dominoes left in opponents’ hands
Count the pips on all remaining dominoes
The winner is the player with the lowest total score after all rounds
Play multiple rounds until a target score is reached
The player with the lowest total score at the end wins
