Do not try to pop a shoulder back in place yourself
Call emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department immediately
Keep the arm still and supported in the position found
Use a sling, towel, or cloth to immobilize the arm if available
Apply a cold pack wrapped in cloth for 15 to 20 minutes at a time
Do not eat or drink in case sedation or surgery is needed
Do not force movement, massage, or attempt reduction
Seek urgent medical care right away if there is numbness, weakness, severe pain, deformity, or loss of pulse in the arm or hand
