Insert fresh batteries into the Roku remote
Turn on the Roku device and TV
Make sure the Roku device is connected to the TV
For a simple Roku IR remote, point it at the Roku device and use it directly
For a Roku voice or enhanced remote, open the battery compartment
Press and hold the pairing button inside the battery compartment until the status light starts flashing
Wait for the remote to pair automatically with the Roku device
Follow any on-screen pairing prompt if it appears
If pairing fails, remove the batteries and reinsert them
Restart the Roku device
Move closer to the Roku device and try pairing again
Replace the batteries if the remote still does not pair
Check that the remote is compatible with your Roku device
Use the Roku mobile app if you need a temporary remote alternative
