Take a 4–6 inch healthy stem cutting from new or semi-hardwood growth
Remove leaves from the lower half of the cutting
Optional: dip the cut end in rooting hormone
Fill a pot with well-draining potting mix or a sand-perlite mix
Make a hole in the soil and insert the cutting
Firm the soil around the stem
Water lightly to settle the soil
Place the pot in bright, indirect light
Keep the soil slightly moist, not soggy
Cover loosely with a clear plastic bag if needed to retain humidity
Remove the cover periodically for airflow
Check for roots after a few weeks by gently tugging the cutting
Transplant into a larger pot or garden bed after roots develop
Alternatively, bend a low stem to the ground, nick it lightly, and bury part of it to layer
Keep layered stems moist until rooted
Separate and transplant the rooted layer once established
