How To Prune A Palm Tree?

Wear gloves, eye protection, long sleeves, and sturdy shoes

Use clean, sharp pruning tools

Remove only dead, damaged, or completely brown fronds

Cut fronds close to the trunk without cutting into it

Leave healthy green fronds in place

Remove seed pods and dead flower stalks if needed

Do not remove fronds above the horizontal position

Do not “hurricane cut” or over-prune the palm

Trim hanging dead fronds carefully from top to bottom

Disinfect tools before and after pruning

Dispose of removed fronds safely

Prune only when necessary, not on a fixed schedule

Hire a professional for tall palms or hard-to-reach areas
