Sit down and rest quietly for 5–10 minutes

Empty your bladder
Keep your feet flat on the floor and your back supported
Try a calm, quiet environment with reduced noise and stimulation
If you were told to take a prescribed blood pressure medicine, take it exactly as directed
Recheck your blood pressure after 5–15 minutes of rest
Call emergency services now if you have chest pain, severe headache, shortness of breath, weakness, confusion, vision changes, or blood pressure is 180/120 or higher with symptoms
