Find the centimeter side of the ruler
Locate the zero mark
Count each long line as 1 centimeter
Read the number at the line where the object ends
Count the smaller lines between centimeters as millimeters
Use the last full centimeter mark before the end of the object
Add the extra millimeters to the centimeter reading
Write the measurement in cm or mm as needed
