Check if the chat is still in your Instagram Direct inbox
Search the username in Instagram Direct
Ask the other person to send the conversation screenshots or forward the messages
Download your Instagram data from Accounts Center
Go to Instagram Settings
Open Accounts Center
Select Your information and permissions
Choose Download your information
Request a copy of your Instagram data
Check the downloaded file for messages or chat history
Restore from a phone backup if your device backup contains the chat
Check linked email notifications for message previews
Look in archived screenshots or screen recordings
Use Instagram on another logged-in device to see if the chat is still available there
Contact Instagram Support if the chat was deleted due to an account issue
Check if the chat was unsent rather than deleted, since unsent messages cannot be recovered from Instagram
