Sit down and rest quietly for 5–10 minutes

Recheck your blood pressure after resting
Take your prescribed blood pressure medication exactly as directed

Avoid salty foods and processed snacks
Keep your head elevated if you feel unwell
Seek urgent medical help if blood pressure is very high or you have chest pain, shortness of breath, severe headache, confusion, weakness, or vision changes
