How to Reglaze a Bathtub?

Remove all items from the bathroom and ensure strong ventilation

Clean the tub thoroughly with a non-abrasive cleaner

Remove soap scum, mildew, and mineral deposits

Repair chips, cracks, and rust spots with appropriate filler

Sand the entire surface to dull the existing finish

Rinse and dry the tub completely

Mask off surrounding walls, fixtures, drain, and floor

Apply a bathtub etching or bonding cleaner if required by the product

Wipe the surface with a lint-free cloth and tack cloth

Mix the reglazing coating according to the manufacturer’s instructions

Apply the primer if the system requires one

Spray or roll on the first coat of reglazing finish

Apply additional thin coats as directed

Allow proper drying time between coats

Keep dust and moisture away during curing

Remove masking tape carefully after the final coat sets

Reinstall fixtures and drain cover after full curing

Avoid using the tub until the full cure time has passed

Clean the reglazed tub only with non-abrasive cleaners
