Turn off the water supply if needed for access
Lift the toilet seat and locate the hinge bolts at the back
Remove the bolt caps if present
Hold the nut underneath the bowl with one hand
Unscrew the bolts from the top with a screwdriver or wrench
Remove the old seat and hinges
Clean the mounting area on the toilet bowl
Position the new seat and align the hinge holes
Insert the new bolts through the hinge holes and toilet bowl
Tighten the nuts underneath until secure
Make sure the seat is centered and level
Close and open the seat to check stability
Tighten slightly more if needed
Replace any bolt caps if included
