Shut off the water supply
Open a faucet to relieve pressure
Cut the pipe square if needed for access
Remove any retaining clip
Use a SharkBite disconnect clip or disconnect tongs
Place the tool around the pipe and fitting collar
Push the collar toward the fitting
Pull the pipe straight out while holding the collar in place
Inspect the pipe end and fitting for damage
Replace the fitting if it will not release cleanly
