Park the vehicle on a level surface and let the exhaust cool completely
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
Raise the vehicle securely with a jack and support it with jack stands if needed
Locate the oxygen sensor to be replaced
Unplug the sensor electrical connector
Spray penetrating oil on the sensor threads if it is stuck
Use an oxygen sensor socket or the correct wrench to loosen the sensor
Remove the old sensor from the exhaust
Compare the new sensor to the old sensor to confirm fitment
Apply anti-seize only if the new sensor does not already have it preapplied
Thread the new sensor in by hand to avoid cross-threading
Tighten the sensor to the manufacturer’s specified torque
Reconnect the electrical connector
Lower the vehicle if raised
Reconnect the negative battery terminal
Clear any trouble codes with an OBD-II scanner
Start the engine and check for warning lights or exhaust leaks
