Pat the salmon steaks dry
Brush both sides with olive oil
Season with salt and black pepper
Add garlic, lemon juice, or herbs if desired
Place the steaks on a lined baking sheet or in a lightly oiled roasting pan
Roast for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on thickness
Check for doneness when the salmon flakes easily and is opaque
Remove from the oven and let rest for 2 minutes
Serve immediately with lemon wedges if desired
