Save your work and close all programs
Restart the computer
On Windows, press and hold Shift while selecting Restart
On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot
Select Advanced options
Select Startup Settings
Select Restart
After the computer restarts, press 4 or F4 for Safe Mode
Press 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking
On some Windows PCs, press F8 repeatedly during startup to open Advanced Boot Options
Select Safe Mode and press Enter
On a Mac, restart and hold the Shift key until the login screen appears
Log in to start in Safe Mode
On a Linux computer, open the boot menu and choose recovery or safe boot options if available
