Measure the porch and plan the screen layout
Inspect the porch frame for rot, damage, or instability
Gather materials: screen mesh, screen frame lumber or aluminum, spline, spline roller, fasteners, hinges, latch, trim, sealant
Decide whether to screen the entire porch or only open sides
Build or install a screen frame around each opening
Attach vertical and horizontal framing members as needed
Install bottom plates or kick plates if desired
Cut screen material slightly larger than each opening
Stretch the screen over the frame
Secure the screen with spline, staples, or screen caps
Trim excess screen material
Install screen doors if needed
Add weatherstripping around doors and gaps
Seal joints and fastener holes as needed
Paint or stain exposed wood if applicable
Check for gaps, loose areas, and proper door operation
Repair or tighten any weak spots before use
