Select the GIF you want to send
Send it in the chat
If GIF search is not available in Instagram
Open your phone keyboard and use its GIF feature
Copy the GIF link if supported and paste it into the chat
Use a third-party GIF app that shares directly to Instagram DMs
Save the GIF to your device and send it as a video if needed

Save the GIF as a video file first
Open Instagram and create a new Story
Upload the video file
Share the Story
To post a GIF in a feed post
Convert the GIF to a video format
Upload the video to Instagram as a reel or post
