How To Set Up A Router?

Unplug the modem (and router, if already connected) from power

Connect the modem to the router using an Ethernet cable (typically the modem to the router’s WAN/Internet port)

Connect a computer or device to the router using an Ethernet cable (or via the default Wi‑Fi name on the router label)

Plug in the modem and wait for it to fully connect (lights indicate online status)

Plug in the router and wait for it to finish booting (lights stabilize)

Open a web browser on the connected device

Go to the router setup page (common options: http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 or http://routerlogin.net)

Log in using the admin credentials from the router label (or the credentials you previously set)

Run the Quick Setup / Setup Wizard

Select your connection type (often Dynamic IP / DHCP, or follow ISP instructions)

If required, enter ISP login details (PPPoE username/password) or other WAN settings provided by your ISP

Set the Wi‑Fi network name (SSID) and password

Set security settings (use WPA2/WPA3; choose WPA3 if available)

Apply/Save settings

Reboot the router if prompted

Verify internet access on a connected device

Update router firmware if prompted or available in the admin interface

Change the admin password

Disable WPS if available

Optional: Configure guest Wi‑Fi, parental controls, port forwarding, or VPN settings in the router admin panel
