Wait until the gecko is at least 6–8 months old, preferably larger and more developed
Gently hold the gecko and lift the tail slightly
Look at the area just behind the vent
Males have a distinct row of pre-anal pores in a V-shape above the vent
Males have visible hemipenal bulges at the base of the tail
Females lack obvious pre-anal pores or have very faint pores
Females have a flat or smooth tail base with no paired bulges
Compare both traits together for the most reliable result
