Stop using albuterol unless a clinician has told you to keep taking it
Sit or lie down and rest
Breathe slowly and steadily
Sip water if you are able to drink safely
Avoid caffeine, nicotine, decongestants, and other stimulants
Check your pulse if you can
Use only the prescribed dose and inhaler technique
If you have a rescue inhaler plan, follow it exactly as prescribed
Seek urgent medical care if you have chest pain, fainting, severe shortness of breath, a very fast or irregular heartbeat, or symptoms that do not improve
Contact a clinician promptly if the fast heart rate keeps happening after albuterol use
