Choose early spring or early fall

Dig around the entire plant
Lift the clump from the ground
Shake or wash off excess soil
Locate natural division points
Cut the clump with a sharp spade or knife
Make sure each division has roots and shoots
Replant divisions at the same depth
Space the divisions properly

Mulch around the plants
