Fill a pot with 1 to 2 inches of water
Place a steamer basket or rack in the pot
Bring the water to a boil
Add eggs to the steamer basket in a single layer
Cover the pot with a lid
Steam large eggs for 12 to 14 minutes for hard-cooked eggs
Steam medium eggs for 11 to 13 minutes for hard-cooked eggs
Steam extra-large eggs for 14 to 15 minutes for hard-cooked eggs
Transfer eggs to an ice bath immediately
Let eggs cool for 5 to 10 minutes
Peel or store the eggs as needed
