Trim the stems
Place the basil stems in a glass or jar with a little water
Cover the leaves loosely with a plastic bag
Keep it at room temperature
Change the water every 1 to 2 days
Avoid refrigerating fresh basil unless necessary
For short-term storage, wrap basil in a slightly damp paper towel and place it in a breathable bag
For long-term storage, freeze basil leaves
For long-term storage, blend basil with oil and freeze in ice cube trays
