Gather a screwdriver, ladder or step stool, and a helper if needed
Fully raise or open the blinds
Locate the mounting brackets holding the headrail
Open the bracket doors or release clips if present
Support the blinds with one hand
Lift the headrail out of the brackets
Remove any screws holding the brackets to the wall, frame, or ceiling
Take down the brackets if needed
Remove any valance or decorative cover attached to the blinds
Lower the blinds carefully and set them aside
Patch or cover any remaining screw holes if desired
