How To Tape Shin Splints?

Clean and dry the skin on your lower leg

Cut a strip of kinesiology tape long enough to run from just above the ankle to below the knee

Round the tape corners to help it stay on longer

Sit with your foot flexed upward and the shin muscle relaxed

Anchor the first end of the tape just above the inner ankle or lower shin without stretch

Apply the tape along the painful shin area with light stretch

Finish the last 1 to 2 inches of tape with no stretch

Rub the tape to activate the adhesive

Add a second strip alongside the first if needed for support

Use an X or fan pattern over the painful area if swelling or broader support is needed

Avoid wrapping tape too tightly

Check for numbness, tingling, or skin irritation

Remove the tape if pain worsens or circulation feels restricted

Replace tape after sweating, showering, or every few days as needed
